First F1 driver to react to Lewis Hamilton shock Ferrari news gives hilarious response

Lewis Hamilton is set to join Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season.

The first Formula 1 driver has reacted to reports linking Lewis Hamilton with a shock move to Ferrari.

On Thursday morning, it was reported that Hamilton is set to join Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season.

Hamilton signed a new deal to drive for Mercedes for 2024 and 2025 but it has been claimed that there is an escape clause in his contract.

Now, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has appeared to react to the shock news in hilarious fashion.

On social media, the Australian wrote: “Just been for a run. Have I missed anything?”

Speaking back in 2022, the seven-time F1 world champion spoke about the prospect of driving for the famous Italian team.

He told Corriere della Sera: “Of course, it would be nice to race for Ferrari during my career, but things happen because of a reason.”

The news will for sure be a shock to many F1 fans as Hamilton stated his intention to get back to winning ways with Mercedes when he signed his new deal in August 2023.

He said at the time: “Being at the top does not happen overnight or over a short period of time, it takes commitment, hard work and dedication and it’s been an honour to earn our way into the history books with this incredible team.

“We have never been hungrier to win. We have learnt from every success but also every setback. We continue to chase our dreams, we continue to fight no matter the challenge and we will win again.”

Hamilton added: “I’m grateful to the team who have supported me both on and off the track. Our story isn’t finished, we are determined to achieve more together and we won’t stop until we do.”

The 2024 F1 season will get underway with the Bahrain Grand Prix, which is due to take place in March.
