The earliest date that Lando Norris could win the 2025 Formula One Drivers' Championship has been revealed.

On Sunday, the Las Vegas Grand Prix will kick off a three-week finale to the 2025 Formula One season that will see one driver crowned as the Drivers' Champion.

Heading into the race, three drivers remain mathematically in contention for the title as British driver Norris leads McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri and reigning champion Max Verstappen.

After retaking the lead on the table with a dominant win in Mexico, Norris further established himself as the title favourite with a stellar performance at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, picking up wins in both the sprint as well as Sunday’s race.

And ahead of the upcoming race through Sin City, the earliest date that Norris could potentially win his maiden World Championship has been revealed.

As it stands, Norris’ tally now stands at 390 while Piastri, despite matching his teammate on race victories this season, sits behind him with a total of 366 points.

This means that the Brit boasts an advantage of 24 points over Piastri, while Red Bull star Verstappen is 49 points behind in third.

With three races and one sprint left on the 2025 calendar, the maximum amount of points that a driver could add to their tally before the end of the season is 83, assuming they win every race.

Because of this, it is technically impossible for Norris to secure the 2025 title in Las Vegas as, assuming he won the race and Piastri failed to score, the gap would stand at 49 points with a maximum of 58 points still available.

Instead, the earlier possible time for Norris to be crowned champion is during the Qatar sprint race on Saturday November 29.

If the above situation played out, Norris would only need to outscore the Australian by two points to guarantee the title, meaning all he had to do would be cross the line in at least seventh place.

How Max Verstappen can still win the 2025 Formula One title

With his gap to the top currently 49 points, it's looking almost impossible for Verstappen to retain his title and become a five-time champion.

But for Verstappen, a nearly impossible race is just a challenge and, despite him admitting that fans could 'forget about' his title chances following the Brazilian Grand Prix, he still remains in the title race.

If Verstappen dominates the final part of the season — winning Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, along with the Qatar sprint — the Dutchman would take his points total to 424 points, a monumental swing.

In this scenario, Norris would need to score 35 points from the three races and sprint to be crowned champion.

This means that, should Norris falter in any way, be it a DNF, a bad qualifying session or some kind of strategic error, Verstappen could significantly reduce the gap.

And, if Verstappen were to outscore Norris by 25 points across Las Vegas and Qatar, it would mean that Abu Dhabi would once again stage a title decider on the final day of the season.
