George Russell Receives Brutal Dig From F1 Reporter During Awkward Italian GP Interview

The reporter went IN on the Mercedes star.

George Russell was left stunned by a rather cheeky comment from a reporter following the 2025 Italian Grand Prix.

It was Max Verstappen who returned to the top step of the podium in Monza, but all the post-race talk has revolved around controversial team orders following McLaren.

Oscar Piastri's world championship lead was cut to 31 points following the decision, with Lando Norris hoping to claw back more ground in Baku.

The top five finished how they started, with Charles Leclerc holding off Russell to secure fourth place at Ferrari's home race.

Russell had been tailing Leclerc during the early exchanges but the Ferrari's low drag setup made it extremely hard for the Mercedes star to make a move.

While completing his media duties after the chequered flag Russell was hit with sly dig from one reporter for his team's performance.

After claiming he was speechless after a lonely race, a Viaplay reporter added, 'speechless AND speedless?'

Russell took the joke well and responded: "Yeah that's a nice one."

The 27-year-old sits fourth in the F1 standings and remains the only non McLaren driver alongside Verstappen to win a race in 2025, however, he is still without a contract for next season.

Despite the lack of confirmation, Toto Wolff has insisted Russell will continue with the team in 2026, and hailed him as one of the best drivers on the grid.

After shaking off the stray jab in his first interview, Russell explained he was actually rather happy with his result considering the circumstances.

"Well, we were expecting to be two tenths behind Ferrari and a bit more behind everybody else, so... you know, to be less than that, I was reasonably pleased," he told F1.com.

"I don't think we could have done anything more, so... Yeah, it was a bit of a shame to lose more ground to Ferrari and the constructors, but... I was pretty, pretty satisfied with the race.

"There was nothing more, really, we could have done," he added.

The Brit also reiterated the difficulty of overtaking, claiming Leclerc was one step too far for the German team.

"I think it was just very challenging to get by Charles. They were so fast in the straights," Russell explained.
