F1 Driver Set For New Career Path Away From Sport as Admission Made

The driver has big plans for his post-F1 career.

A Formula 1 driver has stated that he wants to follow a completely different career path once he retires from the sport.

Alpine's Pierre Gasly signed a new three-year contract with his current team last season, taking him up until 2028.

The French outfit finished in 10th and last place in the 2025 Constructors' Championship, and were regularly at the back of the field.

Gasly's team-mates, Jack Doohan and his replacement Franco Colapinto, scored zero points between them across the entire season.

Gasly, though, once again outperformed the car's pace by scoring 22 points, with a best finish of sixth place at the British Grand Prix.

He was particularly strong in qualifying, reaching Q3 in 10 out of the 24 Grands Prix.

The 29-year-old clearly has no plans to retire from Formula 1 in the near future - but has revealed that he already knows what he wants to do at the end of his time in the sport.

Speaking to Lawrence Barretto on the 'Off The Grid' podcast, Gasly explained that he wants to move into fashion once he calls time on his F1 career.

He said: "I'm definitely going to get into this world at some point. I just like the creativity behind it, and that's why, at the end of the day, I want to discover other worlds.

"The first time I came to Milan, every man, every woman, I was just staring like, 'How beautiful are these people?'

"The style, everybody's very elegant. From 15 years old to 75 years old. I've seen the coolest grandmas walking around town.

"When you're in Milan, when you go out, you need to make sure that you wear some nice stuff."

Gasly has been based in Milan since 2019, and drove for the Toro Rosso/AlphaTauri team - which is based in Faenza, Italy - between 2017-2018, and again from 2019-2022.

He is currently in a relationship with Portuguese fashion model Francisca Cerqueira Gomes.

On the podcast, which saw host Barretto travel to Gasly's home in Milan, the Frenchman also opened up on his love of football.

Gasly is a joint shareholder in French semi-professional club FC Versailles, who play in the third division, and has supported reigning Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain since he was five years old.

"I'm a big fan of PSG," he explains. "I've got four jerseys. I probably have another 25 in my bedroom.

"I actually met Neymar and Lionel Messi in Ibiza on holiday a couple of years ago.

"Football has always been a big part of my life, and I've always wanted to be involved. That opportunity with FC Versailles came last year [2024].

"I want to give them the best they can, so they can outperform themselves on the pitch and really bring the best to the team. It's funny to see it from a different point of view.

"If you ask me, when I was young, what I wanted to become in my life, I would have told you I either wanted to be Michael Schumacher or Zinedine Zidane!"
