Charles Leclerc is one of the best drivers on the current Formula 1 grid, and every constructor would be desperate to make him part of their team.

The 28-year-old has made a fine start to the 2026 season as he currently sits third in the overall standings after the latest Grand Prix, which was in Japan.

At present he is currently driving for Ferrari, a team he joined in 2019, with the aim of being world champion.

The ambitions of the 28-year-old will not have changed since making this move, but in that time, he has had to watch Max Verstappen lift four titles, Lando Norris collect one and his current teammate earn two while driving in the silver of Mercedes.

To say it has been quite an underwhelming period at the Italian team for Leclerc would be an understatement, as he has only won eight Grands Prix across nine seasons.

The Monegasque racing driver joined Ferrari to win races and titles; however, this has not happened, and so it is understandable that he may be willing to explore his options around the paddock.

It has been reported by AutoRacer that Leclerc had also been approached by Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll to join their team, but the Ferrari man quickly backed away when he smelt something fishy.

Aston Martin have struggled this year under new team principal Adrian Newey, as they have failed to collect any points so far in the opening three races.

It has also been reported that Red Bull would consider Leclerc as the only viable replacement for Verstappen should the Dutch driver leave the team.

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies may look to capitalise on the reported desire that Leclerc wants to become the central piece of the Ferrari team moving forward as they chase a drivers’ and constructors’ championship.

However, Mekies believes he could capitalise on this uncertainty in the Italian team if Verstappen opts to leave Red Bull.
