Gerwyn Price has given an insight into what Luke Littler is really like in the practice room ahead of matches as he prepares to make his much-anticipated Premier League debut.

After months of waiting, the 2024 Premier League Darts will finally return to Cardiff on Thursday night, with eight of the world's best players competing against each other for the £275,000 grand prize.

Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall, who are the top four players on the Order of Merit, will feature alongside wild cards Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, Rob Cross and Luke Littler.

Littler has taken the sporting world by storm in recent weeks. After reaching an unprecedented World Championship final, the 17-year-old lifted the Bahrain Masters title before making another final appearance at last month's Dutch Masters.

He is in confident spirits ahead of Thursday's clash against world number one Luke Humphries but fellow Premier League competitor Gerwyn Price has fired a friendly warning to the teenager.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, the Welshman said: “He’s brilliant but... I will beat him soon.”

Price also opened up on the positive impact Littler has had on darts as a sport, as well as "loving" the way he conducts himself in the practice room ahead of a match.

“I think it’s brilliant," Price said when asked about the Littler effect. "Don’t get me wrong, it is added pressure when you’re playing him and he plays well every single time. I think he’s brilliant for darts and he’s a good youngster, he’s down to earth.

“I think, at this moment in time, he’s probably what darts needed as well – a little kick up the backside and get more people interested and motivated to watch. I think he’s fantastic, he’s brilliant.”

The 38-year-old, who was a semi-professional rugby player before taking up darts, was also informed in the interview that Littler was playing video games ahead of their match in Bahrain.

“I didn’t even actually know he did that! If he did, fair play to him. I’m usually just sat there on my snooker game as well, I’m pretty similar anyway to a certain extent.

“I just love the way he is around the practice room, he doesn’t really engage with players, keeps himself to himself and just gets up there and plays darts, and he plays darts well.”
