Luke Littler is now the major favourite for coveted award as new odds put the teenager ahead of England footballing superstars.

Littler burst onto the scene in the World Darts Championships in the new year, as he became the youngest ever player to reach the final of the competition at just 16 years old.

The now 17-year-old Littler has amassed over 1.1m followers on Instagram and become by far the biggest name in darts seemingly overnight.

His final defeat to Luke Humphries was watched by a record-breaking 4.8 million according to reports.

Littler has completely changed the landscape of the sport, so it's no surprise he is in contention for several awards to recognise his achievements.

According to OLBG, Littler is now the odds-on favourite to take home the 2024 Sports Personality of the Year award with 7/1 odds.

The 2023 ceremony was held in Salford on the 19th of December, with England goalkeeper Mary Earps taking home the award for her off and on-field heroics for women's football.

With 11 months still to go until the 2024 awards, it shows exactly how much Littler has achieved to be the runaway favourite this early.

Littler's career has continued to go from strength to strength since the World Championships and earned his first PDC title after beating Michael van Gerwen in the Bahrain Masters final.

The other names in contention are England internationals Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham who both sit at 8/1 odds.

With the Euros being held this summer it would be hard to argue the pair wouldn't deserve the award if England go all the way in Germany.

Bellingham in particular could be one to watch, as the 20-year-old has been a sensation in Madrid since signing for Borussia Dortmund.

With Real Madrid in the Spanish title race and one of the favourites for this season's Champions League, Bellingham could be the most likely to take the fight to Littler.

However, Littler has qualified for every tour event this year, and with his current form it is bold to presume the teenager will start to slow down and not pick up multiple titles in 2024.

Full SPOTY 2024 odds:

1.Luke Littler 7/1

2.Jude Bellingham 8/1

3.Harry Kane 8/1

4.Mark Cavendish 9/1

5.Adam Peaty 12/1

6.Ronnie O'Sullivan 12/1
