Gerwyn Price took to social media after being knocked out at the semi-final stage of the Players Championship Finals by Luke Littler – and his words speak volumes.
Just a week after beating Luke Humphries to win the Grand Slam of Darts and the newly-crowned world number one made another statement of intent ahead of next month's World Darts Championship.
In an entertaining final at the Butlin's Minehead Resort, Littler captured his maiden Players Championship Finals title with an 11-8 victory over Nathan Aspinall, averaging 103.33 to Aspinall's 93.64.
"I am very proud to get this one ticked off the list - only two more to go now," he said on Sunday. "It wasn't easy to get to this final at all."

Earlier in the day, Littler defeated Chris Dobey in the last 16 before overcoming top seed Gerwyn Price, who played well in the semi-final clash, averaging 101.99 and hitting 58 per cent of his doubles.

But it wasn't enough as ‘The Iceman’ fell to a narrow 11-8 defeat. Despite the loss, Price moved up to number nine in the PDC rankings after a solid performance.

One said: "Love Gezzy always thought he’s been class, nice to see he’s getting his plaudits now though instead of everyone s------g on him, Littler is just flying atm and there’s few that can stop him."
A second commented: "Classy post. Fair play," while a third wrote: "Been defending Gezzy for years. Hes a competitor, but he knows whats up. Hates losing, loves winning, sees greatness."
A fourth added: "Love Gezzy. Noticing that players like Luke keeps him wanting more is great for the sport."

As a result of his world ranking spot, Price will now be the ninth seed for the upcoming World Darts Championship, which means he could end up facing Littler as early as the quarter-final stage.
Price remains hopeful of another world title win. “You need the rub of the green to win tournaments," he said. “At the moment, the two Lukes are having the rub of the green but when that changes, will they keep winning? I don’t think so.”
