Gerwyn Price has admitted he "can’t believe" how 2026 has started after receiving an exclusive Gold Card from one of the UK's most popular chains.

It was a disappointing end to 2025 for "The Iceman", whose World Championship campaign came to a surprise end in round two following a straight-sets defeat to world No. 92 Wesley Plaisier.

Plaisier, who works as a forklift truck driver when he's not playing darts, came out on top in just 22 minutes. Price, meanwhile, averaged 95 but was only allowed 10 shots at double, winning four legs in total.

"Absolutely gutted there had so much support, which was amazing," Price said after the defeat. "Wesley was great at the right moments, but I was way off it and it showed."

It must have been a tough one to take for the Welshman, but his spirits must have been raised by a surprise gift on the morning after Saturday's final between Luke Littler and Gian van Veen.

As seen in the picture below, Price was gifted a Toby Carvery Gold Card, an exclusive reward that only a select few have the privilege of owning.

“Wow. Thank you Toby Carvery. Can’t believe I’ve been given this Gold Card," he said on his social media channels. "It literally is the home of the roast and always my number one go to when I don’t want to cook."

He added: “2026 has started so well.”

The elusive Gold Card also came with a message from the restaurant chain.

It read: “We’re gifting you an exclusive Toby Carvery Gold Card, which entitles you to many Toby treats, on the house. What’s better than hitting a 180… 180 roast dinners. Come on down and enjoy the Home of the Roast while you’re competing!”

Price isn't the only celebrity to own the mythical Toby Carvery loyalty card.

Speaking on Kathy Burke’s Where There’s A Will There’s A Way podcast, West Ham fan and Mean Machine actor Danny Dyer opened up about owning one, although he didn't seem as delighted as Price.

“I’ve got a platinum gold card, I don’t know why. I go in now and again, I don’t know what they’ve heard," he said.

"Some people get the black Nando’s card, that’s the cool one, but I’ve got the f***ing Toby Carvery gold f***ing platinum card. So I’m going there when I want, and I have what I want."

He added: "If [Toby Carvery] are listening, I don’t want to lose the card so I’m not taking the piss but there’s something about standing there with your f***ing plate, there’s a geezer in front of you and I can see the taters I want and I can see he’s looking at the same f***ing taters.”
