Beau Greaves has responded to the attention surrounding her rise with a refreshingly candid interview after Gerywn Price labelled her potential inclusion in next year's Premier League "a joke".

The 21-year-old, who has won a record-breaking 86 successive matches on the Women's Series tour, has impressed at this month's Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.

Despite suffering narrow back-to-back defeats against Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson, Greaves became the first woman to average over 100 on television and lose in the 5-4 defeat to Anderson.

The three-time women's world champion capped off an impressive tournament with a 5-3 victory over Niko Springer, recording five straight legs with 104 and 137 checkouts.

After beating Springer on Tuesday night, Greaves reflected on the "hype" surrounding her darts game following comments from Van Gerwen, Anderson, Raymond van Barneveld and Gerywn Price, to name a few.

"I just feel confident with my game," Greaves said following the win. "I'm just trying to get through it and just after getting my Tour card, I'm looking forward to it.

"I don't really like the hype around all of it. I don't really want people talking about me," she continued. "It's how I get on with it. I don't need other people to tell me I'm not ready. I know that, do you know what I mean?

"I know I'm not ready for the big leagues and that. That's just me and my family to get through, there's no one else. Just play and enjoy.

"I know I've got the game but I don't expect too much from myself at all. People ask the questions and I respond to them in the best way possible."

Greaves added: "I'm trying to play with a bit of confidence, trying to enjoy myself and that's that. I know I've got the game but I've got a hell of a long way to go before any of that sort of stuff comes in."

Gerwyn Price brands Beau Greaves Premier League calls ‘a joke’

Shortly after former world champion Raymond van Barneveld backed Greaves to get a spot in the Premier League if she impresses at the World Championships next month, Gerwyn Price gave his take on the idea.

Asked about the speculation, Price said: "Yeah, I think that’s a bit of a joke, to be honest. I don’t know.”

Greaves played down talk around a Premier League spot after Van Barneveld's comments, although she wouldn't say no.

"It’s just nice – they don’t have to say that sort of stuff. It’s sweet for me. I watched all these players growing up," Greaves said. “I can’t imagine I would get in the Premier League unless I had a crazy run but I wouldn’t say no! But maybe it’s a bit much for me. It would make it exciting, wouldn’t it?

“It would be amazing to play in it. I don’t think I deserve it. It’s nice that people say good things about me.
