Turkish Giants Fenerbahçe Eye Move For Manchester City Defender

Turkish Giants Fenerbahçe Eye Move For Manchester City Defender

Manchester City and Brazil youth full-back Yan Couto is attracting plenty of attention this summer, and a new club has now entered the race.

If there is good news for those that hope to see Yan Couto make the cut at Manchester City one day, it is that the highly-rated defender lives up to the hype of his revered reputation generated last season.

With the pressure of knowing that players of the ilk of Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo have set the standards of what is expected from a right-back at Manchester City, the Brazilian stepped up to the tall task in fine fashion, by putting in an astounding personal campaign for SC Braga during a season-long loan.

So much so that it was revealed that the Primeira Liga outfit consider their former Sky Blues loanee as a ‘priority’ signing that they wish to wrap up in preparation for the upcoming season.

It has also been recently reported that the club were ‘eager’ to add a buy-back option as soon as they looked set to secure the player’s services last summer, and may attempt to target the same proposal as they eye Yan Couto’s signature for next term.

However, a telling revelation was that Manchester City’s preference remains sending the highly-touted prospect to a side within the country on loan in the 2022/23 season, which is an indication that they would like for the starlet to get a feel for the English game.

This is a strong sign that the Premier League champions are readying up the former Coritiba starlet as a future right-back option, especially considering the fact that Kyle Walker turned 32 years-old in May of this year.

Touching on his immediate future, it has been revealed that a new club has now entered the race to sign the Sky Blues prospect on a temporary basis.

As per the latest information provided by Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Turkish giants Fenerbahce are ‘interested’ in signing Yan Couto on loan for next season.

It has been claimed that newly-appointed manager Jorge Jesus ‘liked’ what he saw from the silky right-back’s flamboyant displays at SC Braga last term and has recently made ‘contact’ with Manchester City about the ‘possibility’ of a loan deal for next season.

A key detail that has emerged is that instead of immediately deciding where Yan Couto’s future lies for the time being, Pep Guardiola’s side will only make a decision once pre-season training begins later this month.

It has also been mentioned that the final decision is on Pep Guardiola - who will ultimately dictate where the prodigy is headed next season, even though the chances of the player staying at the Etihad Stadium are close to non-existent.

The Turkish giants are set to face fierce competition from SC Braga who, as reported by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, will not lose their former loan signing ‘without a fight’ as they eye his arrival once again.

From a Manchester City perspective, one can expect the club to take the perfect call on where the best of Yan Couto can be unleashed next term such is the high regard in which the player is held by those in relevant positions at the football club.
