Player Ratings: Wolves 0-3 Manchester City (Premier League)

Here is how we rated the individual performances of Manchester City's players after a 0-3 away win against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester City enjoyed a very comfortable afternoon in the Midlands, dispatching Wolves by 0-3.

The hard work was done in the first half, with City leading 2-0 at the break and up a man too after Nathan Collins was sent off for a reckless challenge on Jack Grealish.

It took just 55 seconds for the blues to take the lead, with Phil Foden freeing Kevin de Bruyne, whose pinpoint delivery allowed Jack Grealish to knock in his first goal of the season.

Erling Haaland was soon in on the act too, driving from the halfway line and shooting low past José Sá to double the advantage.

The second half was admittedly a little pedestrian from Manchester City, although they could afford for it to be, and they still managed to grab another goal.

A nice move once again involving Haaland and de Bruyne ended in Foden sliding an accurate shot into the bottom corner.

Here are our ratings from Manchester City’s easy win over Wolves on Saturday afternoon!

Starting XI

Ederson - 7

Advert

One of the easier afternoons Ederson will have this season. One routine save in the first half all he had to do.

John Stones - 7.5

Didn’t look altogether comfortable at right back, but was still steady in possession and crunched into his tackles.

Manuel Akanji - 7.5

I doubt Akanji would have expected to have had such an easy ride in his time at City so far! Once again untroubled.

Rúben Dias - 8

Put in a number of very effective and impressive blocks.

Advert

João Cancelo - 7.5

Solid defensively and provided his usual array of attacking threat.

Rodri - 8

Very solid in the middle, popping up with tackles and interceptions whenever they were needed.

Advert

Kevin de Bruyne - 7.5

Collected his trademark two assists, despite not having his most decisive afternoon.

Bernardo Silva - 7.5

Pressed with his usual intensity and did good work in transition.

Phil Foden - 8

Always a danger in wide areas, involved in the first goal and bagged the third.

Erling Haaland - 8

Dropped deep to good effect, a position from which he took the ball and smashed in that second goal.

Jack Grealish - 8.5 (MOTM)

Exactly what he needed. A confident display with plenty of good runs, and he was well placed to open the scoring.

Substitutes:

Ilkay Gündogan - 6.5

Good in the tight spaces, and was effective as the game opened up.

Riyad Mahrez - 5.5

Needed to be more decisive. Not the best deliveries or defensive contribution.

Julián Álvarez - 6

Got into some good areas, couldn’t capitalise though.

Cole Palmer - 6.5

Showed a good array of trickery.

Sergio Gómez - No time to mark.
