The Premier League is set to resume next weekend, a new report has revealed.

This weekend, Manchester City against Tottenham Hotspur - alongside all other English top-flight games - was postponed, following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Since then, as confirmed by the Royal Family and Buckingham Palace, it has been stated that the State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 1100hrs BST.

In light of the confirmed details, the Government issued fresh advice to sport - including the Premier League.

As per Rob Harris of Sky, the advice is as follows:

"As a mark of respect, organisations might wish to consider cancelling or postponing events or closing venues on the day of the State Funeral."

It now seems as though the aforementioned advice may have been listened to, with a new report offering an update on the prospect of Premier League football this weekend.

According to the information of The Mirror's John Cross, Premier League fixtures are set to resume next weekend.

It is reported that the Premier League will be hoping to get as many games on as possible next weekend, but face a major challenge.

This is particularly the case in London due to policing, with officers on standby ahead of the Queen’s state funeral.

Further information from The Mirror reveals that TV companies, clubs and the Premier League are desperate to get the games on and will look at different options, potentially moving kick-offs and switching days have been discussed.

For Manchester City, this will likely mean that their clash against Wolves will take place as scheduled.

At present, the Premier League champions are set to travel to Molineux in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

Elsewhere for Pep Guardiola's side, their midweek UEFA Champions League clash has also received an update.
