Aside from Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at Manchester United, arguably only Pep Guardiola can claim to have ushered in such an unprecedented era of dominance at Manchester City.

When the Spanish tactician had arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2016, there were doubts over whether he could replicate his success from Germany and Spain over in England.

However, the decorated manager has made a mockery of all such question marks.

Winning four Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups and one FA Cup during his six-year spell at the Etihad Stadium, not many managers can boast such a successful trophy haul.

With the addition of the devastating Erling Haaland, there are many that now suggest that the current iteration of his Manchester City side may well be at the peak of their powers.

As more silverware is expected under Pep Guardiola this season, the only lingering doubt around him remains his future at Manchester City.

With the Catalan boss yet to pen a new contract extension, his current deal expires in the coming summer.

However, there has been no confirmation from the former Barcelona legend about the fact that the ongoing 2022/23 campaign is his last season in charge at the club.

Speaking during a recent press conference, Pep Guardiola gave an insight into his plans for the future.

“The club knows exactly what is the next step," the City boss opened.

"No one can see the problems (of the future) but I am 100% convinced."

Pep Guardiola continued, “They know what the strategy is, what they have to do right now, tomorrow and for next season.

"When the club depends on one person, we have a problem.

"If the club just depends on Pep, it is because we have not done well."

The Manchester City boss followed be stressing that all decisions made during his time at the club have come from superiors within the City Football Academy offices.

"I never buy players, it is not my money. It is the club. The club is the most important word," he said.

"Every decision we make is thinking about the club.

"In football, like all sport, you lose more than you win but it is important to think the way you do it will give you the trophies and the titles.”

With Pep Guardiola showing no signs of reaching his sell-by date, a majority of the Manchester City fanbase hope he renews his contract.
