First images of Manchester City's 2022/23 away shirt have now surfaced on social media.

The leaked photos come ahead of the club's official unveiling of the kit, which has seemingly already divided opinion amongst supporters.

Puma - Manchester City's official kit manufacturers and primary sponsor alongside Etihad Airways - have been a rousing success ahead of the new season.

The club's new home shirt was a major hit amongst fans, and broke records for sales on the release date of the kit in the United Kingdom.

The 2022/23 #ManCity home shirt has become the club's most successful kit launch to date, with record sales for the first day. One of the top 10 names requested for shirt printing on Thursday was ‘Bell 8’.

As for the new away shirt, the return of red and black stripes was always set to be a huge hit, and that has proven to be the case.

However, while Puma have continued the trend of referring to the club's history through kits with the third shirt, the colour scheme and overall design may be a little too bold for the fans' liking.

This week, courtesy of football shirt-focused Twitter page 'esvaphane', the first images of Manchester City's 2022/23 third shirt have come to light.

The club's new third shirt is understood to be paying homage to Manchester City's monumental play-off final win of 1999.

A last-minute strike from club icon Paul Dickov rescued a 2-2 draw in normal time at Wembley Stadium, before a penalty shoot-out win over Gillingham secured promotion for the Maine Road outfit.

Despite the fond memories being drawn upon by Puma, fans on social media have been less than impressed.

Reacting to the leaked images on City Xtra's official Twitter page, a number of fans have been left horrified by the colour scheme and design of the shirt.
