Jan Oblak Pays Ultimate Compliment To Incoming Manchester City Signing Erling Haaland

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has outlined why Manchester City star signing Erling Haaland is one of the ‘worst’ strikers a goalkeeper can currently face.

It is safe to say that Erling Haaland will arrive in the blue side of Manchester with the reputation of being one of, if not the most devastating number nine in world football.

Blessed with a unique blend of lethal finishing, terrorizing pace and a beastly stature, the Norwegian has wreaked havoc on defences ever since his rise to prominence at Red Bull Salzburg.

Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, one of the finest shotstoppers over the past decade, went on to discuss why Manchester City's latest recruit is the worst opponent a goalkeeper can currently face.

"Probably, probably! He (Haaland) is one of the worst. He is an extremely good striker. He has shown it in recent years," the Slovenian said in an interview with Denmark-based television channel TV 2 this week.

"He (Haaland) is still young but he is incredible and scores many goals. We all see that he is unbelievably good. Hopefully, we manage to defend ourselves well and not give him too much space."

Oblak was further quizzed about his opinion on the Leeds-born forward not joining Atletico Madrid's fierce local rivals Real Madrid, who were believed to the Haaland's preferred destination at some point during the intense saga over his future in recent months.

The 29-year-old added: “Yes, I do not know. I have always said that I like to play against the best players. He (Haaland) is about to become one of the best.

"He will not play against me in the Spanish league but we will probably meet in the Champions League. I wish him all the best in England. He will have a great career.”

It is a testament to how highly regarded Erling Haaland is at such a young age that true giants of the game such as Jan Oblak consider him one of the toughest possible strikers to face in Europe.

However, Manchester City fans will not need any reminding of Haaland’s superhuman attributes as they cannot wait to see their star striker in action.
