Manchester City Set For Tidy Profit Should Jack Harrison Sign For Newcastle

Newcastle United signing Leeds winger Jack Harrison would reportedly net Manchester City up to £5 million.

Manchester City stand to earn £5m should Newcastle United sign former Blue Jack Harrison.

The Premier League Champions have already generated a high level of income this summer with several high-profile outgoing transfers.

England international Raheem Sterling joined Premier League title challengers Chelsea for £47.5m earlier this month after turning out for the Citizens for seven years.

This was after Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus departed Manchester for Arsenal in a £45m deal, after struggling to find regular game time at the Etihad Stadium.

City’s first team sale is not expected to end there however, with the predicted transfer of Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal set to be finalised early this week.

The Manchester club has also had several outgoings in its youth ranks too with the sale of both Irish goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and Belgian defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia to Southampton for a combined £22.5m.

Now it seems that City are set to make even more money this summer with the transfer of one of their former players.

English winger Jack Harrison is close to making the move to Newcastle United from Leeds United.

The Magpies are rumoured to be on the verge of a £35m transfer for the player and Pep Guardiola’s side are set to profit from the deal.

City inserted a clause for 20 percent of any profit when Harrison was sold to the Whites for £11m last year, as per The Sun.

The winger joined the Citizens in 2018 from sister club New York City but did not make a single appearance for the Sky Blues during the three year stint.

Harrison instead spent all three years on loan, having moved to Middlesbrough for the first year before an initial two-year loan at Leeds prior to the Whites making it a permanent deal in 2021.

The player has enjoyed a good run of form in the Yorkshire team, making 166 appearances and scoring 28 goals as well as assisting 22 more.

If Harrison’s move to Newcastle goes through at the quoted price, City will have made a total of almost £137m profits from just this summer transfer window alone.
