Barcelona have only paid Manchester City €3 million for the transfer of Ferran Torres

Barcelona have only paid Manchester City €3 million for the transfer of Ferran Torres

A new report has revealed Manchester City are still owed a substantial amount of money from Barcelona for the transfer of Ferran Torres.

Barcelona still owe Manchester City an obscene amount of money for the transfer of Ferran Torres, in a deal that was completed back in December 2021, according to a new report.

The La Liga giants are known to be currently embedded in a whole host of financial difficulties.

President Javier Tebas was forced into pulling 'economic levers' throughout the whole of the previous summer transfer window, in order to get transfers over the line in an attempt to bring Barcelona back to their previous glory days.

However, it appears as though their difficulties extend much further than just signing players in the present.

A new report has revealed how Manchester City are still yet to receive any substantial amounts from the deal agreed with Barcelona for the transfer of Ferran Torres last year.

In the process of signing at the Camp Nou, Barcelona also placed a €1 billion buy-out clause in the Spaniard's contract.

The deal had initially represented a significant profit on the initial amount invested by Manchester City.

City officials signed Torres from Valencia in the summer of 2020 for a fee understood to be €23 million.

However, before City can really count themselves as gaining a significant profit from the deal, Barcelona will have to start making progress on their owed payments.

According to the information of Laia Tudel of Catalunya Ràdio, Barcelona still owe Manchester City around €52 million for the transfer of Ferran Torres.

The Spanish international signed a five-year contract with the Camp Nou club almost one year ago.

However, in a deal that reportedly totalled €55 million plus variables, it now appears as though the cash-stricken La Liga side have only paid €3 million of the agreed fee.

As for Manchester City, they have certainly moved on from Ferran Torres in an on-the-field playing sense.

The signing of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez in the most recent summer transfer window have transformed and added a different threat to Pep Guardiola's forward line.

The Norway international in particular has set the world alight during his short time at City so far, scoring 14 goals in his opening 10 games for the club across all competitions.
