Manchester City have completed the signing of highly-rated Germany youth international Farid Alfa-Ruprecht, according to reports.

The Premier League champions are often known for having a firm eye on rising youth talents from all corners of the globe.

While their scouting team is renowned for being at the very forefront of recruitment in South America, signings from the European market are often reported.

Just this summer, Etihad chiefs successfully pursued Everton youth forward Emilio Lawrence, as the 16 year-old took his next step upwards in the professional game.

The importance of recruitment at youth level has also been highlighted by high-profile sales from their academy this summer.

Transfers from the Manchester City academy to Premier League rivals Southampton accounted for upwards of £50 million alone.

The likes of Romeo Lavia, Samuel Edozie, and Juan Larios all completed relatively high-profile switches south.

The Saints offer both Premier League football and most importantly, a significant amount of playing time in comparison to what is on offer at the City Football Academy.

But as players leave the academy system, players also join, and the latest successful pursuit took Manchester City to the German market.

According to the information of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have completed the signing of Germany under-17 international, Farid Alfa-Ruprecht.

Such is the strong reputation and highly-rated nature of the teenager that City are claimed to have beaten Premier League giants Chelsea and German champions Bayern Munich to the player's signature.

It is further detailed that Alfa-Ruprecht signed within the most recent summer transfer window and will become a part of Manchester City's under-18 system.

Internally, the player is regarded as 'one for the future' by relevant officials at Manchester City, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Farid Alfa-Ruprecht's new teammates in the Manchester City academy system as a whole got off to the perfect start in European competition this week.

Against Sevilla in the UEFA Youth League opening matchday, a hat-trick from the exciting talent Carlos Borges, plus goals from Adedire Mebude and Will Dickson, secured all three points in a 5-1 win for Brian Barry-Murphy's elite development squad.

Manchester City's senior squad face arguably their toughest test of the new season this weekend, as they take on Antonio Conte's Tottenham side at the Etihad Stadium.
