A new report has claimed that Manchester City’s signing of Everton youngster Emilio Lawrence is all but confirmed.

For a number of years, Manchester City’s academy was extremely underrated by fans and pundits alike.

Despite producing incredible players such as Kasper Schmeichel, Daniel Sturridge, Kieran Trippier and Jadon Sancho, many failed to give due credit to the club’s conveyor belt of talent.

However, the rise of Phil Foden is what led many to realise that City have one of the standout academies in the country.

Southampton have banked on the youthful duo of Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia as two major summer additions, as former head of recruitment and talent management, Joe Shields, also moved from Manchester to St Mary's.

In addition, Leeds United have tried to recover from the colossal blow of losing Kalvin Phillips to Pep Guardiola’s side by entrusting Darko Gyabi as their go-to number six next term.

Similarly, Bayer Leverkusen also seem keen on the arrival of Samuel Edozie for £10 million in the summer.

Despite a number of top-flight clubs having full faith in Manchester City’s academy, the last thing one should expect is for the club to rest on their laurels and not further improve their youth sides.

In fact, the Premier League Champions are constantly on the lookout for some of the most prodigious youngsters within the nation that can be nurtured into becoming the stars of tomorrow.

Keeping that in mind, it seems as if the club have wrapped up a deal to sign yet another unearthed gem to bolster their enviable elite academy setup.

As per a report by Football Insider, Manchester City have agreed a deal with Everton to sign Emilio Lawrence.

While the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United were also eyeing a move for the 16-year old, it seems as if City have reached a full agreement to sign the Scot.

It was telling how the Toffees recently confirmed their list of scholars for the upcoming campaign and one of their prized academy talent’s name was nowhere to be seen.

The attacking midfielder is classed as one of Britain’s finest young prospects.

Encouragingly, the starlet proved his potential for the Merseyside-based side’s U-18 team by registering seven goals and three assists across all competitions last season.

Just recently, the English juggernaut were also rumoured to prise away Jarrad Braithwaite from Goodison Park.

The practice of bringing in gifted youth products from clubs within the country and nurturing their promise is a common practice.

After all, Manchester City signed the likes of Liam Delap and Joshua Wilson-Esbrand from Derby County and West Ham respectively as recently as 2019.

With City’s eye for talent being second to none, a deal to sign Emilio Lawrence could mean great things for both player and club.
