Manchester City could be set to receive a significant cash windfall on transfer deadline day courtesy of Premier League rivals Arsenal, it has been revealed.
Officials at the home of the Premier League champions are often meticulous in their transfer negotiations, and one deal could pay off in their favour.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are on the look out for a new central midfielder as the transfer deadline edges ever closer.
That hunt has taken them to Aston Villa, and specifically towards Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The now 24 year-old has impressed at Villa Park since leaving Manchester City in the summer of 2019 for a fee understood to be in the region of £15 million.
However, embedded in the deal was a clause to state that the Etihad club would be eligible to a portion of any future transfer fee secured for the player.
Fast forward to transfer deadline day of 2022 and this has become very relevant.
Arsenal are pursuing a deal for the player and a third bid could see the Gunners propose a fee in the region of £23 million.
This is according to Sami Mokbel of the Mail, who reports that the third bid comes after a £20 million second proposal was turned down by the Midlands club.
But what does this mean for Manchester City?
As per Martin Blackburn of The Sun, the Premier League champions would be entitled to 20% of any profit Aston Villa make on Douglas Luiz.
This means that it would work out as 20% of anything over the initial £15 million paid by Villa three years ago.
Should Arsenal pay a fee of £23 million for Douglas Luiz, as reported, then City would take in approximately £1.6 million from the deal.
Manchester City have seen significant revenues in 2022, and specifically this summer, and yet more cash through Douglas Luiz would only boost their figures.

It had been highlighted that Manchester City's revenues from player sales alone are set to top £200 million for this summer once the window shuts, and £250 million for the calendar year.
Offering some context, as per James Ducker of the Telegraph, Manchester City have raised around £30 million more in sales in 2022 alone than Manchester United have in the past five-and-a-half years.
