"I kicked the ball off last year and now everybody is trying to do it."
Hearn added: "I actually said to Floyd on Saturday night when he was at the AJ fight, 'you need to be careful, this is a very, very tough fight you have with Logan Paul.'
"And then he asked me: 'are you serious?' and then I said: 'No I'm not.'"
The bout between Mayweather and Paul will headline a pay-per-event on February 20 with 'Money' to make a guaranteed $9 million plus 50% of all PPV sales.
Mayweather, 43, hasn't fought since his exhibition against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018.
As for Paul, the 25-year-old last fought 13 months ago when he suffered a loss to YouTube rival KSI.
