Floyd Mayweather has named undefeated American superstar Terence Crawford as the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing.

Mayweather revealed his top pound-for-pound fighter in boxing during a Q&A in Rotherham, England.

He opted for Crawford when asked to pick his pound-for-pound king, but 'Money' believes Gervonta Davis is the most exciting fighter in the sport.

"Right now, if I had to say a guy who's number one pound-for-pound, and I'm not just saying this because... it's two guys," he explained.

"The most exciting fighter in boxing right now is Gervonta 'Tank' Davis. He's the most exciting.

"At the end of the day, I think he's 22-0 with 21 knockouts [sic - 23-0 with 22 KOs].

"Hands down Gervonta Davis is the most-exciting fighter in the sport of boxing right now. Pound for pound, I would have to say Terence Crawford."

Crawford, 32, unified the light-welterweight division then became undisputed champion during his illustrious reign at 140lb.

He then moved up to welterweight where he continued to enjoy great success, winning the WBO world title against Jeff Horn. He's since defended his 147lb strap versus Jose Benavidez Jr., Amir Khan and Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

Davis, on the other hand, is promoted by Mayweather and is a two-weight world champion. He currently holds the WBA (regular) lightweight world title.

The 25-year-old boasts an impressive 23-0 professional record, which includes 22 victories inside the distance. He holds notably wins over Jose Pedraza, Liam Walsh and Yuriorkis Gamboa, among others.

Mayweather, meanwhile, is expected to return to action this year after striking a deal with UFC president Dana White.

The 43-year-old retired in 2017 following his 50th victory against Conor McGregor, but he's set to lace up his gloves again.
