Nate Diaz's hilarious reaction to finding out Texas commission will test for marijuana ahead of Jake Paul fight

Nate Diaz's hilarious reaction to finding out Texas commission will test for marijuana ahead of Jake Paul fight

The fight will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas - a state that drug tests athletes for cannabis.

Nate Diaz may need to rejig his pre-fight routines ahead of his Jake Paul fight after finding out that he will be tested for marijuana.

The former UFC star is set for his first professional boxing fight against the controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer.

The fight will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas - a state that drug tests athletes for cannabis.

And that’s a little fact that it seems the former welterweight seemingly only just found out.

Diaz and his team aren’t shy about their weed consumption, and to be fair to the Stockton brawler, with the amount of pain he’s put his body through its fair that he’s after a bit of relaxation.

The U.S Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the body in charge of testing UFC athletes, has taken on guidelines to no longer punish fighters for detected marijuana athletes.

However, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has not and have a strict 50ng/ml THC threshold.

This was a ruling that Diaz only just found it seems in a new video in which he was talking to reporters about steroid use.

Diaz claimed he didn’t care about testing for steroids as ‘everyone he’s been fighting his career has been on steroids’.

He then quipped: “There’s a lot of weed in (my system). There is.”

That’s when an MMA Junkie reporter let him in on the no-tolerance policy in the state of Texas.

It certainly seemed to catch the MMA star off guard, with a perplexed look on his face.

He asked: “Wait, what happened?”

He then offered up a solution to the problem: “Well, let’s go to California.”

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation then confirmed to MMA Junkie that Diaz would indeed be subject to testing for the eight-round boxing match.

In a statement, they said: “Mr. Diaz will be held to the same rules as everyone else who competes in combative sports events in Texas.”

Diaz is open about his use of marijuana and has been pictured smoking weed at UFC press conferences and open workouts.

It’s going to be a hard ask to stop Diaz from smoking marijuana for a prolonged period of time.

One fan said: “Soooooo the fight ain't happening then? The day Nate Diaz passes a drug test for weed is the day I backflip off this planet.”

Another wrote: “Nobody can stop Nate Diaz from smoking weed.”

A third added: “I can guarantee you that at this position in his life, there is no scenario where Nate Diaz stops smoking weed for a week.”
