How much John Fury made from professional boxing compared to son Tyson Fury's career earnings

John Fury's earnings from professional boxing are dwarfed by the staggering amounts his sons have made.

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson is set for another mammoth payday when he takes on former UFC star Francis Ngannou on Saturday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The bout has been dubbed "the battle of the Baddest", with the WBC commemorative Riyadh championship on the line.

He is slated to take on Oleksandr Usyk in a monstrous heavyweight unification fight further down the line, which would bring in a serious purse.

$15 million is the figure Fury is reportedly guaranteed to earn from the Ngannou fight, but his pay packet could total $50 million if pay-per-view sales eclipse 1.5 million.

Fury signed a $100 million contract with Top Rank back in 2021 and is a multi-millionaire from his stellar, undefeated career.

The Fury family are one of the most iconic in British boxing, with colourful character John having 13 fights as a professional.

He lost his debut in 1987 before going on a seven-fight unbeaten streak. Once ranked third in the country, he suffered knockout defeats to former WBO champion Henry Akinwande and Steve Garber and retired with an 8-4-1 record.

And having never quite got to world level, Fury Sr only ever made just less than £4,000 from boxing - claiming he made more from his bare-knuckle exploits, where he once won £100,000.

In his autobiography 'When Fury takes over", he writes: "Sometimes I idly speculate how far I could’ve got if I’d enjoyed the benefits of sponsorship, and career guidance and support, and hadn’t had to do two jobs just to keep my family afloat financially.

"I wasn’t making any real money from Queensberry Rules boxing; in thirteen fights as a pro over an eight-year period.

"I made less than £4,000. Fighters often make excuses after they’ve been beaten, but some of my challenges were laughably one sided. Like when I fought Neil Malpass. It was my first ten-rounder, and at the time I had only had a handful of fights and experienced six two-minute rounds, while he had had over forty professional fights. I lost narrowly on points."

Tommy has had less fights than his old man and trainer, yet Tyson claims he has now made around $25 million after venturing into the influencer boxing world with wins over Jake Paul and KSI.
