There is a growing sense that boxing fans will finally get the Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury clash they have been dreaming of in the near future.

The Gypsy King dominated Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night, and it appeared he leaned over the ring and beckoned the challenge of Joshua.

Plans appear to be taking shape for the pair to square off, as Eddie Hearn confirmed Joshua's next fight could be against Fury or Deontay Wilder with talk of this fight taking place in Dublin.

Hearn is hoping to give Katie Taylor a deserved send-off in Croke Park for her final fight but may need a star-studded billing to fill out the 80,000-seater stadium.

This is where Fury and Joshua come in, as the pair could draw an immense crowd that have been waiting years to see the pair square off and finally answer the question: Who is the better British boxer?

However, despite the Irish perhaps getting slightly excited at hosting such a major event, in the home of the GAA, there is also talk it could be held in Saudi Arabia.

Fury has long wanted to test himself against Joshua and show that he is the best boxer in Britain; however, he may need to be patient for this clash.

Netflix, who broadcast Fury’s fight with Makhmudov, have seemingly announced that the fight between the pair will take place this autumn, with Fury claiming to have signed a contract for this bout, even calling out Joshua for not signing the agreement; that is according to the BBC.

Joshua appears rightly cautious about the fight after being involved in a car crash in Nigeria on December 29, which killed his personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, while leaving him hospitalised.

It would be an extremely quick recovery if he were ready to box this autumn, and he has made it clear that he needs some time; however, he has explained how he would beat Fury in the ring.

Joshua said: “I enjoyed watching it (Fury v Makhmudov), and I feel like I am ready to build up my muscle because I want to break his jaw.”

Boxing fans will remember that Joshua did this to his last opponent, Jake Paul, despite his opponent not being of the pedigree of boxer he had fought previously in his career and not being of the world-class level of Fury, so it will be interesting if he can deliver this promise when he does square off with the Gypsy King.
