UFC President Dana White Takes Another Huge Swipe At Boxing

"That's how screwed up and broken it is," said White. "That's what a mess it is."

UFC president Dana White has taken another swipe at boxing following news of Floyd Mayweather's fight with YouTuber Logan Paul.

American boxing legend Mayweather, who has a 50-0 undefeated record, is set to take on Paul in a 'super exhibition fight' in Las Vegas next year.

It's an announcement that hasn't gone down well with White.

The UFC president was believed to be close to launching Zuffa Boxing this year, but the coronavirus pandemic halted those plans.

And now he's criticised the sport over a lack of integrity regarding Mayweather's planned fight with Paul in February.

White told The Sports Network's Aaron Bronsteter: "Yeah, I'm not doing anything [in boxing] any time soon.

"Never did I say that I was doing anything, but I've been looking and kicking the tires of boxing for the last couple of years.

"The reason you've never seen me do anything is because that's how screwed up and broken it is. That's what a mess it is. It's going to require so much time, money, and the whole thing needs to be rebuilt and restructured.

"There's always going to be fights that'll pop up that'll make money, but when you're in a situation where, this Mayweather [fight with Logan Paul] does more buys than [Tyson] Fury versus [Deontay] Wilder or some of these legitimate big fights, it's pretty scary."

Paul, 25, fought fellow YouTuber KSI twice in the past three years, the first resulting in a draw before the Briton claimed a rematch victory back in 2019.

The exact value of the February fight is yet to be determined, though Paul's first bout with KSI attracted 1.3m pay-per-views worldwide - including 800,000 live purchases. That made it the largest non-professional boxing fight of all-time, but White remains unimpressed.

"When people ask me what's the state of boxing right now, that's where it's at.

'Didn't that kid get beat up by the f*****g video game kid from England and now he's going to fight Floyd Mayweather?"
