Tennis players Pedro Martinez and Federico Delbonis have received glowing praise from fans around the world after the duo came to the aid of a ball girl who had collapsed at the Australian Open.

Midway through the first set tiebreaker in their opening round clash, Martinez and Delbonis noticed something going on down one end of the court.

A young ball girl had fainted while Martinez was up 9-8 in the breaker.

Seeing her go down, the tennis stars sprung into action and rushed over to help.

Delbonis even sprinted over at full pelt from the opposite end of the court.

The line judges were also on hand to help out, giving the girl water before eventually getting her into a nearby chair where she could recover.

But even while she was receiving medical attention, Martinez and Delbonis refused to leave her side.

Play eventually continued with Martinez going on to win the tiebreaker 17-15.

He also won the match in four sets.

Both players were on the receiving end of some warm praise from fans who flocked to social media to share to highlight their brilliant fast-thinking actions.

And according to Channel 7, the ball girl's condition has improved, although it remains unknown what caused her to collapse in the first place.
