Highest-Selling NBA Jersey In Australia Revealed

The NBA has released a list of the most popular jerseys in Australia - and there's a new face in the number one spot.

Step aside LeBron James, Steph Curry and even Ben Simmons, as the accolade for the number one selling jersey in Australia belongs to Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball.

And according to stats from NBAStore.com.au, it's the first time an NBA rookie has had the top-selling jersey in Australia.

The youngest of the Ball brothers is well known among us Aussies thanks to his successful spell in the NBL with the Illawarra Hawks.

LaMelo well and truly took the league by storm, shattering records and selling out stadiums ion the process.

But while his arrival Down Under did wonders for the NBL, it also saw LaMelo's own personal stock rise and he was eventually drafted third overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

And it was Michael Jordan's Charlotte Hornets who were lucky enough to secure LaMelo's highly sought-after signature.

Since being drafted, the hype train hasn't even come close to being derailed with LaMelo guiding the Hornets to seventh place in the Eastern Conference with a 13-15 record.

And having quickly established his place as a starter, it didn't take LaMelo too long to begin producing some viral plays with fellow teammates Miles Bridges and Terry Rozier.

In past seasons, us Aussies have naturally gravitated towards our fellow countrymen when it comes to buying basketball jerseys.

At one point, it felt like every man and his dog in Australia was wearing a Philadelphia 76ers number 25 jersey when Ben Simmons burst onto the scene in 2016.

We also tend to see our fair share of LeBron James and Steph Curry jerseys, but it's interesting to see the growing number of fans purchasing jerseys of newer faces in the NBA such as Trae Young and Luka Dončić.

Even New Zealand fan favourite Steven Adams made the top 10 - love it!
