Dana White Admits There's 'Massive Hurdles' Blocking Superfight Between Jon Jones And Israel Adesanya

Whether it's at light heavyweight or heavyweight, it's the bout every UFC tragic wants to see.

Inside an octagon? Ring? even a damn car park? It doesn't matter, everyone knows that these two need to square off.

And if there's one thing Dana White is good at doing, it's staging fights between the best mixed martial artists on the planet without fail.

But even the UFC president can't guarantee that we'll see this highly-anticipated 'superfight' take place in 2021.

White has now admitted there are "so many massive hurdles" standing in the way of the match-up between former light heavyweight champ Jones and current undefeated middleweight king Adesanya.

"With Jon Jones moving up to heavyweight, I don't know. Then there's all the talk between him and Adesanya. I don't want to get too excited," White told ESPN.

"Adesanya still has to fight (light heavyweight champ) Jan (Blachowicz), and Jones is at heavyweight.

"There's so many massive hurdles that these guys need to get over, so don't get excited thinking about Jon Jones vs. Israel Adesanya."

And ever since Jones vacated the 205-pound belt, the two UFC greats haven't held back in the trash-talking department.

Adesanya has accused Jones of running from him by moving up a weight class.

And on the other hand, Jones has never shied away from taking digs at Adesanya's performances via social media.

This - combined with their world class ability inside the octagon - means this potential grudge match has all the ingredients to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history.

But unless Nigerian-born New Zealander Izzy moves up to heavyweight, White suggests us fans should keep on dreaming.

"Jon Jones fought at light heavyweight his whole career and Adesanya is moving up to fight Jan for the title," White said.

"But does Jon Jones ever want to go back to light heavyweight again? So that just blows the whole thing out of the water."

If it really does come down to Adesanya stacking on the pounds and moving up to heavyweight, then don't put it past him.

He's fought at that weight before during his decorated kickboxing career.

And as you can probably imagine, he was just as much of a beast in that division too.
