F1 Driver Lance Stroll Came Agonisingly Close To Hitting A Track Marshal

Lance Stroll had an absolute nightmare at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

No seriously, the bloke literally couldn't put a foot right.

The Canadian Formula One driver ended up finishing 13th at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Italy - but it wasn't without its fair share of incidents.

Stroll's day started very poorly after he was forced to pit after the very first lap.

The 22-year-old, who drives for Racing Point, collided with Renault's Esteban Ocon meaning a safety car had to be deployed to stop the race.

The safety car meant Stroll was able to catch up with the rest of the F1 pack once he was finished in the pits, but while he was rejoining his rivals Stroll somehow got himself involved in a rather scary incident that had spectators holding their breath.

Earlier in the race, Williams' George Russell crashed out meaning track marshals had been deployed to clear the remaining debris.

Except Stroll wasn't told about them.

Seen overtaking the safety car upon his return to the race, Stroll put his foot down to catch up to the rest of the pack but narrowly missed the safety marshals who were still on the track.

It made for a heart-in-mouth moment but thankfully no one was hit - although they did come agonisingly close.

"Tell them to watch out, the marshals are on the track," four-time F1 champion SebastianVettel said.

"That's very, very dangerous. Tell the marshals to get out of the track."

The gut-wrenching moment capped off a rather miserable day for Stroll and Racing Point.

Later in the race, Stroll hit a member of his own team when arriving in the pits with speed.

The slight contact sent his pit crew member flying into the air and onto the deck in a heap.

Thankfully the teammate was alright, but Stroll was clearly feeling the heat on an otherwise miserable day at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
