Usain Bolt's 'Worst-Ever Race' Footage Emerges And His Time Looks Like a Typo

The eight-time Olympic champion still holds the 100m world record.

One of Usain Bolt's 'worst ever' times in the 100m just goes to show how legendary a sprinter the Jamaican was.

The 39-year-old has been retired for approaching a decade now, but his legend as arguably the greatest sprinter the world has ever seen endures to this day.

Bolt won a remarkable eight gold medals across three Olympic Games in the 100m and 200m to cement his status.

He won his first gold medals in both the 100m and 200m in his first Olympics at Beijing in 2008.

The Jamaican then competed at London 2012 to win gold in both events once again, as well as being part of the victorious 4x100m Jamaican relay team to take his tally to five medals.

And he achieved another clean sweep in the same three events four years later at Rio 2016 to take his tally to an extraordinary eight Olympic golds.

Bolt retired from sprinting a year later at the 2017 World Championships after finishing third in the 100m and pulling up injured in the 4 x 100m relay final in what was his last race.

Bolt still holds the 100m world record to this day after he broke it three times in a row in little over a year.

His most recent attempt and the one which still stands is 9.58 seconds which he ran in August 2009 in Berlin.

However, it is fair to say not every time Bolt ran in the 100m was near that time.

But even on the days where Bolt was not at his best, he still ran times that many professional sprinters might struggle to reach and that the general population can only dream of.

In 2008 a few months after being crowned the double Olympic champion, Bolt was competing at a Golden League even in Brussels.

There, he won the 100m final with a time of 9.77 seconds ahead of compatriot Asafa Powell and footage of that raced has now emerged on Reddit.

Though that is not Bolt's outright worst time in the 100m, it still shows what he could do on days where he was not at his peak.

In Zurich a week before at another Golden League event, Bolt had won the 100m with an even slower time of 9.83 seconds.

And there were times when Bolt's 100m clocked in at just over 10 seconds, with the worst time he ever ran in a professional final coming in the 2013 Cayman Invitational which came in at 10.09 seconds.
