Usain Bolt marked his retirement by racking up a staggering bar bill after he called time on his illustrious sprinting career in 2017.

Bolt, 38, is one of the most decorated Olympic athletes of all time and finished his career with eight Olympic gold medals and still holds the 100m and 200m sprint world records, which he set at the 2009 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany clocking times of 9.58s and 19.19 respectively.

But as all sportspeople find out, 'Master Time' is still undefeated and the Jamaican icon called time on his career in 2017 having finished third in the 100m at the 2017 World Championships and pulling up injured in the 4 x 100m relay final in London.

"It's really sad that I have to walk away now," said Bolt after announcing his retirement.

"I was saying goodbye to the fans and saying goodbye to my events also."

"I've seen too many people retire and come back just to make it worse or to shame themselves,” he added.

"I won't be one of those people."

And despite the sad ending to his career, Bolt still celebrated in style at a London nightclub just two days later.

As reported by Daily Record, the sprint legend and his friends drank five bottles of Dom Pérignon Champagne – two of them being £940 magnums.

He also ordered a bottle of vodka worth £570, three bottles of £500 cognac, 23 Red Bulls costing £5.50 each and 18 cans of coke at £2.50 per can.

All this combined racked up an eye-watering bill of £6,530.23 and Bolt even added a 15% tip worth £500 taking the total to £7,030.23.

One source who attended the party said: “He was buying everyone drinks. It descended into a crazy party.”

"For me, if you follow my career, you know that music is something that has always... I've always played music, I'm always dancing, I'm just always out, I like to go out and have a good time," Bolt told FADER in 2021.

"So for me, music is something I've always done. You know what I mean? I used to DJ for a while after every track meet when I'm in Europe and stuff like that."
