The pinnacle of any athlete’s career is winning a gold medal at the Olympics; however, the only thing better than this would be winning multiple at the competition.

Only those elite individuals can achieve this, as it takes world-class ability along with incredible hard work and consistency.

Several athletes will be aiming to achieve this at the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the summer of 2028.

One athlete will be looking to add to her seven gold medals in America that summer at the age of 42 as she aims for a remarkable comeback.

Allyson Felix is the most decorated woman in Olympic athletics history with 11 medals, and now she is aiming to add to this tally in 2028.

It would be an incredible send-off for the athlete with these Olympic Games taking place in her home city of Los Angeles.

As reported by Time Magazine, she said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime homecoming.

"And it is the only thing powerful enough to pull me back.

"I know, at 40, I am not at my peak. I have no illusions about that," she added. "I'm very clear in what it is and what I want to see. And so I hope it's seen that way.

"When I was competing, you just heard this roar for host-country athletes at the Olympics. I would love to experience that.

"I would probably be upset at myself if I just didn't give it a try. However, it turns out, I'll still be there with my kids, hanging out and cheering everybody on."

Felix last competed at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene and gave birth to her second child, a son, in 2024.

Despite this time away from the track, she now has time to return to prepare for the Olympics as she aims to make further history by adding more medals to her collection.

The 40-year-old attended her first Olympics in 2004, winning silver in the 200m, and she will hope to secure another medal 24 years on from this maiden achievement.

Her first gold medal came in 2008 at the Beijing Games in the 4x400m relay, while also securing a second silver medal in the 200m race.
