A 3D simulation has showed how a 100m race between Usain Bolt, Cristiano Ronaldo and... an ostrich would play out.

Bolt is regarded as one of the greatest ever Olympians following his performances over the years, having dominated the sprint races at the peak of his powers.

He has an impressive eight Olympic gold medals to his name from his participation in Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro from 2008 to 2016.

The Jamaica sprint legend won gold in the 100m event in each Olympics as he clocked a blistering time of 9.63 seconds at the 2012 London Games - an Olympic record.

However, at the World Championships in 2009, he registered a sensational time of 9.58 seconds, which remains a world record.

But how does Bolt compare when pitted against one of the world's quickest footballers in Ronaldo?

Well, a video shows how he'd fare against the former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar - alongside an ostrich. Yes, an ostrich.

Naturally, the large flightless bird easily won the race, with a time of 7.3 seconds ahead of Bolt, who recorded a time of 9.53 seconds - a time he never achieved during his legendary career.

As for Ronaldo, he clocked a time of 11.22 seconds as he crossed the finish line.

Scientists have seen ostriches run continuously at speeds of 30-37 mph and sprint up to 43 mph.

Bolt was clocked at 27.8 mph when he set a new 100m world record in Berlin, which is the fastest recorded human footspeed recorded between 60 and 80 meters.

At this summer's Euro 2024, Ronaldo clocked a top speed of 20.3 mph - the fastest speed he has registered at any European Championship since UEFA started recording player speeds in 2012.
