Drew Brees will win his second Super Bowl this season, according to a study by ESPN that predicted every game in the 2019 campaign.

The New Orleans Saints are one of the favourites to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy in Miami next February and the American broadcaster's projections have them winning it all.

Chicago and Green Bay will kick off the 2019 NFL season on Thursday night and ESPN have used their Football Power Index (FPI) to predict all 267 games.

They simulated the results of every regular-season and play-off game 20,000 times and arrived at some surprising conclusions.

Brees and Co will win the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams and exact revenge for their controversial defeat at the Superdome last season.

New Orleans will come up against a Los Angeles Chargers side that prevailed against the Houston Texans in the AFC Championship Game - and beat them 40-33.

The study also projected a resurgence for the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers with the pair winning the NFC North and NFC West respectively.

They will be joined as division winners in the NFC by the Philadelphia Eagles from the East and the New Orleans Saints from the South, while the Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons will be wild cards.

The Saints will take down the Rams 17-10 for the NFC Championship, getting their payback for that missed pass interference call that robbed them of a place at the Super Bowl last season.

In the AFC, there's no surprise that the New England Patriots are projected to win the AFC East for 11th time in a row.

The Los Angeles Chargers will also win the AFC West and leave Patrick Mahomes and Co in Kansas City watching the play-offs on television.

The Houston Texans will also win the AFC South while the resurgent Cleveland Browns will claim AFC North glory.

The two wild cards in the AFC play-offs will be the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans.

Tom Brady's quest for a seventh Super Bowl title will be ended by the Houston Texans in the divisional round, but the men from Texas will fall at the next hurdle.

ESPN projections have the Los Angeles Chargers rolling into NRG Stadium and coming out with a 34-26 victory to reach Super Bowl 54.

But Philip Rivers' men from the West Coast will come up short in the big game against Brees and Co in a high-scoring thriller.
