Gabriel Jesus Set For Midweek Arsenal Medical Ahead Of £45m Move

Gabriel Jesus Set For Midweek Arsenal Medical Ahead Of £45m Move

Gabriel Jesus is set to finalise his £45m move to Arsenal with a medical in midweek, after agreeing on personal terms with the club.

Gabriel Jesus is set to complete a midweek medical ahead of a £45-million move to Arsenal, according to reports in Brazil.

The North Londoners are poised to sign the Manchester City forward after weeks of speculation linking the Brazil international with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal were initially made to go toe-to-toe with rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea for the striker’s signature, after he was seemingly made available on the market.

With the prospect of regular first-team football under former first-team coach Mikel Arteta, the Gunners edged ahead in the race for the ex-Palmeiras forward.

Following widespread reports of a total agreement between all parties, all eyes are now on Jesus’ imminent arrival.

According to UOL Esporte, the coveted Brazilian is expected at London Colney between Tuesday and Wednesday, this week.

The City man will complete his obligatory medical before officially putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

With an official announcement forthcoming, the terms are set to make Jesus the one of the best-paid players in the current Arsenal squad.

The striker is then expected to be integrated straight into pre-season training ahead of their 2022 US Tour.

Arriving in the Premier League in January 2016 for £29 million, Jesus has represented Man City for six-and-a-half years since joining from Brazilian club Palmeiras.

In his time, the 25-year-old has accumulated 58 league goals and 32 assists in 159 appearances.

Averaging a goal contribution every 103 minutes, the Brazilian helped steer City towards four Premier League titles, achieved between 2018 and 2022.

The striker failed to guarantee regular first-team football under Pep Guardiola in his time in Manchester, however, as an ageing Sergio Agüero took centre stage in attack.

Erling Haaland’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund this summer complicated matters for Jesus, left with just a year on his current City contract.

The Gunners stepped up and, despite an initial price tag of £60 million, now prepare to snag away the forward for £45 million.

Jesus’ transfer will see him become Arsenal’s fourth summer capture, following the signings of São Paulo's Marquinhos, USA international Matt Turner, and Fábio Vieira from FC Porto.
