Mohamed Elneny's Father Claims He'll Coach Arsenal Someday

Mohamed Elneny's father thinks his son will coach Arsenal someday, as he's popular with everyone at the club.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has had a bit of a turnaround in recent months.

With his Gunners contract running down, Elneny looked certain to leave this summer, particularly as he was playing so infrequently.

But first-team injuries thrust the 29-year-old back into the side, and he started seven consecutive games to end the season.

After that, Arsenal handed the Egyptian international a new contract, reportedly lasting one year with an option for another.

Elneny's father, Nasser, claims he was never in any doubt his son would remain in North London.

"I was sure that Elneny would continue with Arsenal," Nasser told MBC Masr (via Middle East 24).

"I told him that, even though everyone in Egypt was saying that he would leave the team this summer.

"The Arsenal players love Elneny, he is loved among his colleagues in the dressing room, and the club’s management love him.

"I think he will coach Arsenal in the future."

It's not too far-fetched to suggest that any current Arsenal player might end up working for the club after their playing career ends.

The first team is managed by Mikel Arteta, the academy is run by Per Mertesacker, Edu Gaspar is the technical director, and Jack Wilshere is reportedly set to take over the u18s.

Arsenal are evidently not against handing responsibility to their former players. Elneny could well take on a similar role someday.

At 29, the former FC Basel man will hope that day is still a long way in the future.

For now, Elneny will be fully focusing on having a strong season with Arsenal.

Scoring an excellent pre-season goal against FC Nurnberg will help his cause, but Elneny needs to keep up the momentum if he hopes to keep his place for the coming campaign.
