Gabriel Jesus Shines As Arsenal Win Eight Goal Thriller

Gabriel Jesus Shines As Arsenal Win Eight Goal Thriller

Today Arsenal beat 1. FC Nurnberg 3-5, with new signing Gabriel Jesus netting a brace.

Arsenal have today kicked off their pre-season with a 5-3 win against 1. FC Nurnberg.

Arsenal kicked off with new signing Matt Turner starting but the goalkeeper was picking the ball out of the net after just 24 minutes.

In his defence, it was a swerving, powerful shot from Johannes Geis that found its way in off the bar.

Arsenal were shocked and the misery would continue as Nurnberg scored a second.

A long ball was taken down poorly by Sambi Lokonga, allowing Kwadwo Duah to race through on goal.

The striker made no mistake, firing into the bottom corner.

At half-time, Arsenal were in desperate need of impact and that came through new signing Gabriel Jesus.

Within 90 seconds, the Brazilian had won the ball from the Nurnberg defence.

He took the ball to the right, beat his man and played the ball into an area where Ainsley Maitland-Niles found it.

The midfielder played the ball back to Jesus and the striker finished emphatically, scoring his first goal for the club.

The equaliser came through another half-time substitute, Mohamed Elneny, who lashed in a screamer from 35 yards.

Arsenal took the lead as result of an own-goal.

Eddie Nketiah and Jesus combined before Gabriel Martinelli put a cross in destined for his compatriot's head, before the Nurnberg defender got their first.

Another own-goal would mark the fourth. The ball deflecting in off Tim Handwerker after Nketiah hit the bar.

Nurnberg would hit back, Lukas Schleimer capitalising on some loose defending, but it wouldn't impact the final result.

Jesus' heavy involvement in both own-goals would be rewarded, as he finally got his second.

Martinelli spotted the forward's run, playing in a low cross which was flicked home.

The Brazilian had enjoyed a dream debut.

Arsenal rode out 3-5 winners and Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be happy with his team's performance.

It was a game of two halves and the first half in particular will have plenty of points to analyse and improve on, but the second half brought plenty of positives.

Considering Arsenal have just started their pre-season, the performance will please fans and their new star signing has started life with the Gunners in the perfect way.
