Fofana, Kante, Costa: What Graham Potter said ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash vs Wolves

Graham Potter addressed the media ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

It’s been a positive week for the Blues. They beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the Premier League last weekend courtesy of a stunning Conor Gallagher strike in the 90th minute.

Chelsea were then under pressure to get a result on Wednesday night in the Champions League against AC Milan to keep their knockout progression hopes alive. They delivered with a 3-0 win as they cruised past the Rossoneri in west London.

Now they are back in domestic action and Potter will be keen to extend his unbeaten start to life as head coach since his appointment last month.

They face a Wolves side who are manager-less following the sacking of Bruno Lage, with the team being led by Steve Davis and James Collins foe Saturday's game.

Here's what the Chelsea head coach had to say on Friday afternoon in his pre-match press conference:

Team news

"Wesley's knee, not as bad as we thought. A few weeks, I think. A possibility (to play before World Cup), depending on rehab.

"(Kante is) doing more and more integration with team. Not ready for the weekend, but getting closer and closer."

Wolves

"A lot of talented players, can't control others' situations (managerial sacking). We expect a tough game so we have to be ready and positive."

Diego Costa

"We have a lot of respect for what he has achieved. He will come ready to play. Everybody knows at the club how good he's been. He's one of lots of talented players at Wolves that can hurt you, so we have to be ready.

"I'm not sure, I hope so (good reception). Always when players achieve something at the club, you hope so. But that's not for me to decide."

Top four race

"A long way to go. We have to focus on the next match. Rather than think about what happens at the end of the season, focus on the next game."

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

"I don't know whether I've done anything specifically (to help him score), it's just been working with the whole group and laying the foundations. The better the team functions, the more chance the forward line has to do well and score.

"Pierre is working really well for the team and it's nice he's scoring some goals."

Marc Cucurella

"Fully recovered now. He's had more recovery so will be involved tomorrow."

N'Golo Kante

"There's nothing we can do, the injury happened. We have to make sure when he's back, he's back for good, and strong. It's something we have to deal with.

"I don't want to take a risk of the welfare of players. I want to make sure the player is safe, ready, and ready to play consistently over a period of time."

Formations

"You always consider the opponent and players we have. Sometimes that can change the way you approach games. It's also good to have a couple of options. It's an intense period to have some options."

Chelsea

"I'm happy with the progress that's been made so far."

Trevoh Chalobah

"Really pleased. Epitomises the group, ready to come in and help. Training level has been high, so a reward of that behaviour."
