Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring N'Golo Kante's contract situation at Chelsea as Thomas Tuchel has sent the midfielder a message over his future.

The 31-year-old has suffered yet another injury during his Chelsea career, with Tuchel previously confirming that he will miss at least four weeks at the start of the season.

With one year left remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was keen to wrap up Kante's future this summer.

However, four weeks into the new Premier League season, Kante has not signed a contract extension or been told he can leave Chelsea as the new owners at Stamford Bridge make their mark.

It has now been reported that French champions PSG are monitoring the situation surrounding the midfielder.

As reported by Tom Roddy of The Times, the Ligue 1 winners are monitoring Kante's contract situation after Tuchel plunged his long-term future into doubt.

As it stands, the 31-year-old is free to begin talks with other clubs in January ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

This is the same situation as Chelsea found themselves in last January with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, who both departed in the summer.

PSG could look to make a move if Kante becomes available on a free, with Chelsea yet to offer the midfielder another contract.

This comes after Tuchel admitted last week that the club must take into account Kante's injury record before offering him a new dea.

He said: "You cannot (disregard the injury record).

"You have to consider everything that is on the table, and on the table is his potential, on the table is his influence, and his quality.

“But on the table of course is his age, his salary and his injury rate, of course. Of course. From there you build a whole picture and try to find a solution.”

Kante was previously linked with a switch to Manchester United this summer, which appeared to be no more than rumours.

However, as Tuchel looks to rebuild his Chelsea squad, Kante leaving could become a possibility.

It remains to be seen as to whether the 31-year-old will depart when his contract expires.

For now, Chelsea will focus on getting Kante back to full fitness as they look to compete on all fronts this season.
