Chelsea Contacted Over Neymar Interest With PSG Ready To Sell

Neymar could leave PSG this summer and Chelsea have been contacted over their interest.

Chelsea have been contacted to see if they are interested in signing Neymar, who could leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to reports.

The 30-year-old's future at the Parc des Princes is uncertain amid the expected change in coach from Mauricio Pochettino to Christophe Galtier.

Neymar, who made the world-record move back in 2017 from Barcelona for around £200 million, is set to be allowed to leave if as suitable suitor comes in for his signature.

Chelsea are one a few clubs who can potentially afford the Brazilian, which has seen his agent, Pini Zahavi, get in touch with the Blues.

As reported by ESPN, contact has been made with the Blues to see if they would be keen on signing him following the arrival of the new ownership.

Tuchel is looking to bolster his attack this summer and has identified Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and fellow Brazilian Raphinha as the prime targets.

As per the report, Neymar is considering leaving PSG but it remains unclear if Chelsea and Tuchel would be interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

Neymar currently earns around £37 million a year, excluding bonuses, and recently signed a new deal in France which sees his deal reportedly run until 2027 after an extension clause was triggered.

He has been urged to sign for the Blues by Thiago Silva should he leave PSG, with the central defender speaking to local media in Brazil during his post-season holidays.

“He has to go to Chelsea. If it happens, it will be for the best. He needs no comments… So far, I don’t know anything, but I hope it comes to fruition.”

Tuchel has previously worked with Neymar during their time together at PSG and spoke very highly of him back in 2020, admitting: "There are a lot of words to describe Neymar.

"But the best way of describing him is to watch the games.

"He is very decisive for us, he closes spaces, he defends. He is the leader we hoped for and it's a really good time for him."

PSG are ready to let Neymar leave as they eye an overhaul in order to have a team ethic in the side, rather than a side full of individuals, with Kylian Mbappe set to be the focal point following his recent contract extension.

Tuchel told his current set of forwards, with Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech all available to leave by Chelsea, at the end of last season that new signings could be made.

“If we stick to the group then we will try to solve it with these players," the Chelsea head coach admitted in May.

"Is it necessary to bring more offensive players around the box to create more distractions, to create more space for each other? We will ask that question.

"Can we do better in the structure? Can we push the players more? Did we rotate too much? Let’s see. There are a lot of options.

"The numbers we produce from our offensive players don’t allow us to over-perform and we need over-performance if we want to be nearer to the top two teams.”
