Chelsea eyeing silverware this season after Graham Potter's impact as head coach

Carney Chukwuemeka is hoping to win silverware this season at Chelsea with Graham Potter at the helm.

Following the successful start Graham Potter has had at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are now eyeing up silverware this season.

The 47-year-old was announced as the new head coach at the west London side last month.

He came in to replace Thomas Tuchel who had a tricky start to the season, suffering some poor defeats to Leeds United, Southampton and Dinamo Zagreb.

Since Potter's arrival he has drawn once and won his three other matches in charge.

The Blues now look in much more stable state in the Premier League, and moved up into the top four with their most recent win against Wolves.

This win rounded off an ideal week that will provide the team with a huge confidence boost and they will be hoping to carry their momentum into the next game.

On Tuesday night, Chelsea face a trip to the San Siro to play AC Milan in the reverse fixture in the Champions League.

Last Wednesday Potter's squad cruised to a 3-0 win against the Rossoneri at Stamford Bridge, picking up their first victory in Europe this season.

It was a must win game, and it was a performance of the highest quality against the Italian giants.

Wesley Fofana opened the scoring, and then both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James netted to secure the three points.

Chelsea are in a better position in Group E now, but they still need a positive result in midweek.

If they want to be challenging for trophies this year, it is critical they turn up and put in a good display against Europe's elite.

Speaking about the potential to fight for silverware this season following the victory against Wolves was Carney Chukwuemeka.

The 18-year-old came onto make his debut for the club on Saturday and spoke to Chelsea TV about the aspirations the Blues have with Potter in charge.

He said: "Before coming on, he told me to express myself, play how I've been training and just play with a smile on my face. I think I did that.

"It boosts us massively (back-to-back 3-0 wins). It's something to build on and try to achieve something this season, try to win trophies and just keep going forward and forward as a team."

The young star has a bright future at the club, and even though he only had a short cameo against Wolves, he will likely get more opportunities this season.
