Chelsea Star Backed To Succeed Under Jurgen Klopp If Liverpool Made £38 Million Transfer

Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to sign Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic for Chelsea this summer following his recent comments of wanting more game time under Thomas Tuchel.

The 23-year-old made 38 appearances for Chelsea last season, scoring eight goals and registering five assists in all competitions, but it was a campaign affected by Covid and injuries which limited his rhythm at the start of the season.

Pulisic featured in six of Chelsea's last seven Premier League games in the 2021/22 season, being left on the bench for the 2-1 win over Watford on the final day of the season at Stamford Bridge.

He has been away with the USMNT for their friendlies and Nations League matches against Morocco, Uruguay, Grenada and El Salvador.

Pulisic publicly expressed his desire of more game time at Chelsea amid interest from Liverpool, who are set to lose Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.

"As far as right now, I'm obviously just focused on what I'm doing here," Pulisic said at the start of June upon his USMNT arrival. "And I'm super excited to be here. And yeah, that's it.

"Of course, I want to get more playing time. I want to be on the field as much as I can and be the sharpest I can be and fit as well.

"And I think I still got a lot of games, but it's always something that I'm working at and trying to be regular at club level as well to put myself in the best position to be fit when I come here with the national team."

However, following their big-money signing of Darwin Nunez, their interest in Pulisic has cooled but that hasn't stopped former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson from backing him to be a good signing for the Reds.

“I like him. He’s gone to a big club and I think he’s done okay. I don’t think he’s set the world alight but I do like him and he’s a good squad player. When he’s on form he’s fantastic," Johnson told BettingOdds.

"If he was to go to Liverpool then I think that would be a really good signing. He’s the sort of player that Jurgen likes, so yes I could see him fitting in there well.”

Chelsea are believed to be ready to listen to offers for Pulisic, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech this summer if the right offers come in.

As per TransferMarkt's valuation, the American star is worth £37.8 million.

Tuchel declared his concern with Pulisic's finishing last month but insisted he would support him until he became a clinical and consistent goalscorer for Chelsea.

"He is not the player who produced in the last three seasons 30 goals. We will push him to the limit.”
