Player Ratings: Chelsea 2-1 West Ham | Premier League

Chelsea won all three points late on against West Ham.

Chelsea stole all three points late on against West Ham thanks to Kai Havertz's late winner at Stamford Bridge.

The Hammers took the lead through Michail Antonio's close range goal after Edouard Mendy failed to deal with some danger in the box.

However, Ben Chilwell came off the bench to score the equaliser soon after, netting through the legs of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Havertz was then on hand to fire Chelsea ahead inside the area, with the German getting his first of the season.

A late Maxwel Cornet goal for West Ham was ruled out by VAR for a foul on Mendy, and Thomas Tuchel's side soon won all three points in a closely fought battle in west London.

Here is how Absolute Chelsea rated the Blues' performance against West Ham.

Edouard Mendy - 4/10

Advert

The goalkeeper was not required much throughout the match, with only the one shot on target coming from West Ham. However, a weak hand from a Hammers corner saw Mendy gift Rice the opportunity to find Antonio and convert for the visitor's lead.

Wesley Fofana - 6/10

A solid debut from Chelsea's new recruit. Looked comfortable in possession and broke forward to help contribute as the Blues dominated the first half. Looks to be a smart addition.

Thiago Silva - 7/10

Advert

Strong in possession and hardly put a foot wrong, as expected from the Brazilian. Should have seen Antonio sent off for a challenge on him. His long ball gave Chelsea one of the only chances of the match, registering an assist for Chilwell.

Kalidou Koulibaly - 6/10

Once again rarely tested but not as impressive as has been in recent days. Lacked the belief to drive out of the back with the ball, as Antonio Rudiger was so capable of. Could have been better, could have been worse.

Advert

Reece James - 7/10

Appeared to be Chelsea's only creative spark. Struggled in the first half with nobody to cross too but looked solid both in attack and defence. Chelsea will be hoping to tie him down with a new deal as soon as possible.

Conor Gallagher - 6/10 [60']

Looked to playing a little more advanced in the midfield, but still struggling to adapt to the system a little. Quiet game overall, and substituted off for Mason Mount.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 6/10 [83']

Fairly comfortable in the middle of the park, but was booked early on. Played in natural midfield position after previous spell at right wing-back, so versatility is a positive. A good shift from the 26-year-old.

Mateo Kovacic - 6/10 [72']

Has recently returned from injury and this was clear to see. The Croatian did not perform as well as normally does in a blue shirt but minutes back on the bench will be so helpful for him.

Marc Cucurella - 5.5/10 [72']

An underwhelming performance, made worse on a personal level as Chilwell came on to score the equaliser and assist the winner. Cucurella struggled with his corner taking once again and was not as dangerous in attack compared to his competition from the bench.

Christian Pulisic - 6/10 [60']

After a poor cameo against Southampton earlier in the week, Pulisic had a point to prove up front against West Ham. Was denied by a strong West Ham challenge from Sterling's pass but did little after that.

Raheem Sterling - 7/10

Sterling came into the game off the back of three goals in two games, and he showed great attacking intent once again. Made good runs into the area, and was Chelsea's best player before the goals.

Bench

Armando Broja - 6/10 [60']

Many argue he should have started, but he was able to get some minutes off the bench. A quiet cameo, and may have felt he could have been named in the starting lineup on Tuesday had Havertz not scored.

Mason Mount - 6/10 [60']

Little impact off the bench, but didn't do much wrong. Needs to find his feet soon though if he is to repeat his numbers from last season, having failed to find the back of the net thus far.

Kai Havertz - 7/10 [72']

The German will be delighted to have scored the winner so late on in the game. He has struggled so far this season, but Chelsea will be hopeful that his goal will give him confidence heading into the next few fixtures.

Ben Chilwell - 8.5/10 [72']

Superb effort from the left wing-back off the bench. He scored so soon after he was brought on and was able to assist the winner. Deserves to start on Tuesday after Cucurella's lack of impact, but it shows how much depth the Blues have in such a crucial position.

Jorginho - N/A [83']
