Manchester United are set to adopt a 'try before you sign' policy for their youth players who are wanted on loan deals, according to reports.
The club had 17 players move on loans over the course of last season, with some being successes such as James Garner at Nottingham Forest or Dylan Levitt at Dundee United.
However, there were also some misses from those at United who sent players on loan.

Ethan Laird's development was halted at Bournemouth after he moved in January from Swansea, and Amad's spell at Rangers was also underwhelming despite winning silverware with the Scottish outfit.
In attempts to make sure they are minimising those misses when loaning out talent, United have introduced their new loan policy.
Richard Nixon of The Sun has reported that the Reds will let their youngsters go on a three week trial period with clubs that are interested in having them on loan.

This will allow them to decide if they are comfortable with their new surroundings and will also give the club opportunities to see the player up close.
With this being implemented, United should hopefully see their loan success rate increase.
There will be several United fringe players who will be offered this new arrangement in the coming weeks.
While the loan system is one that can yield results for many players, United do have some talent who could be better served remaining at the club next season.

Erik ten Hag is said to be impressed with Alejandro Garnacho, and wants to fast-track the 17-year-old's United career next season.
The Argentine scored seven goals and provided two assists in the club's run to their 11th FA Youth Cup, including two goals in the final against Nottingham Forest.
Garnacho also reportedly impressed Lionel Messi when he trained with the Argentina first-team.

With United's wingers having been in poor form over the last season, Ten Hag could introduce the young wide man to the squads more regularly as he looks to create healthy competition throughout the side.
Hannibal Mejbri is another who has impressed Ten Hag.
The 19-year-old playmaker started the last game of the season against Crystal Palace, with his new Dutch manager in the stands.
Impressing for Tunisia, Hannibal recently won the Kirin Cup with his national side.
Both of these players could benefit from staying at the club and slowly being bedded into the side.

However, the new reported changes in the loan policy will certainly benefit others.
