McGregor lost his trilogy bout with Poirier on Saturday night after appearing to snap his ankle at the end of round 1.

Doctor's ruled 'Notorious' could no longer continue and the man himself even shouted for the fight to be ended.

Mayweather, a rival on McGregor's, took to social media to thank Poirier while showing an image of his betting slip.

His message read: "Dustin Poirier, Thanks for getting me paid!" with his betting slip showing winnings of $85,714.30.

Poirier immediately replied with: "I got you champ!"

McGregor was furious in his post-fight interview and had to give it while sat on the ground with Joe Rogan.

Full of venom, the 32-year-old turned back the clock and insisted it 'isn't over' before referencing a DM he received from Poirier's wife Jolie.

He said: "I was boxing the bleeding head off him, kicking the bleeding leg off... this is not over. If I have to take this outside for him, it's all outside, I don't give a bollocks!

"Your wife is in my DMs! Hey baby, hit me back up I'll chat to you later on, I'll be at the after-party; The Wynn night club. You look in bits, ya little h** ! F**k him!

"I bleedin' landed on the wonky leg like Anderson Silva that one time, something similar to that. It's a mad business."

When the duo fought back in January, many lauded them for the respect shown.

All of that looks to have gone out the window six months on however and Poirier thinks McGregor had it coming.

He said: "Shut your b***h a**e. I can take even the trash - there's no holds barred on the trash talk. But murder's something you don't clown around on. There's no coming back from that.

"This guy was saying he's going to murder me and all kinds of stuff, he's going to kill me, I'm going to leave here in a coffin. You don't talk like that to people man.

"Karma's not a b***h, she's a mirror, and this guy's said the wrong s**t and I've been busting my ass. Sometimes these things happens. Naw, I beat the guy."
