The popular Dodgeball film’s sequel is officially in the works with Vince Vaughn poised to return to the cast.
Back in 2004, ‘Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story’ was released. Vaughn starred as Pete LaFleur, who ends up taking a group of misfits to a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in order to try and save his local gym.
LaFleur’s gym was under threat of a takeover by a fitness chain run by White Goodman, who was played by Ben Stiller.
Apart from Vaughn and Stiller, the cast included the likes of Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Stephen Root, Alan Tudyk, Joel David Moore, Chris Williams, Missi Pyle, Gary Cole, Jason Bateman and William Shatner, to name a few.
The film performed well as it captured the hearts of many and earned some decent ratings, including a score of more than 70 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, Dodgeball 2 is set to be developed by 20th Century Studios.
At the moment, a director is yet to be confirmed but Jordan VanDina will be taking over from Rawson Marshall Thurber as the writer. Vaughn is also believed to be making a return to the cast.
According to Deadline, the script for the sequel will be based on an idea Vaughn had and it is set to continue LaFleur’s story.

Speaking previously to The Hollywood Reporter, Vaughn spoke about the idea he had for Dodgeball 2.
Having stated he ‘had an idea that was fun and the studio likes it’, he said: “So we'll see where it goes.
“I think Ben is open to doing it, I think he's in the same boat as me actually which is if it's a really fun and great idea then that's fun, but if it's just something to go do it again then why?
“You would just want to make sure going into Dodgeball that it feels like a nice continuation and a story that could stand on its own.”
