Tommy Fury Talks About Taking A Punch From His Brother Tyson Fury

Tommy Fury Talks About Taking A Punch From His Brother Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury's brother Tommy has spoken out about what it's like to take a punch from his big brother, ahead of The Gypsy King taking on Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas tonight.

Speaking ahead of his big brother's big night, Love Island contestant and fellow boxing pro Tommy Fury opened up about his brother's punching power, as well as his mental fortitude and single-minded will to win.

Tommy told The Sun: "Put it this way, Tyson will take a look at you, and a little tap from Tyson is - at 6ft 9in and 19 stone - going to hurt.

"I've taken a punch of what he'd give from 45 millimetres away and that's hard enough, I can tell you. There's never, ever going to be another man like Tyson on the planet.

"He's the most mentally strong person in the entire world."

Tyson will face off against Wilder for the second time tonight (22 February), after their first bout in Los Angeles was ruled a split decision draw.

While many observers thought Fury out-boxed his opponent and did enough to win the fight, Wilder still managed to send the lineal champion sprawling to the canvas on two occasions, one of which prompted a Lazarus-like comeback from Fury.

In short, this fight will have to go some way to beat the drama and intrigue the first provided, but that's why it's one of the most hotly anticipated boxing matches in years.

The rematch, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the USA's famous Sin City, is too close to call, even for the most studied and knowledgeable observers.

Fury has the ring craft and boxing intelligence, but Wilder is no fool, and also possesses one of the most devastating punches in boxing history.

Both fighters have weighed in significantly heavier than they did ahead of the last fight, with Fury seemingly looking to mitigate Wilder's punching power, and Wilder attempting to put extra force into that same offensive tactic.

Fury has spent much of the pre-fight build-up talking about how he intends to take the fight to Wilder and spend a lot of time on the front foot, but the accepted wisdom is that if he is to stand much of a chance he'll have to use every bit of his nous and skill to outwit The Bronze Bomber.

Come this time tomorrow, we'll have an answer.
