People left confused as Dana White addresses Florida supporters after Donald Trump declares himself US president

Dana White has appeared on stage to give an unexpected speech after Donald Trump declared himself as the new President of the United States.

Republican nominee Trump is on course to return to the White House, having won 266 votes of the 270 he requires to become President.

The result of the election, however, has not yet been declared - and it may be some time until that official confirmation arrives given the different vote counting processes in different states.

Regardless, Trump appeared on stage at his campaign's headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida to declare himself as the new President.

The 78-year-old thanked a number of allies, including Twitter owner Elon Musk, who has heavily campaigned in favour of Trump for several years.

He then invited UFC CEO Dana White, who endorsed Trump earlier this year, onto the stage.

The UFC chief then left fans confused by delivering his own victory speech - which included a thank you message to several prominent online streamers as well as describing Trump as the 'the most hard-working man I've ever met'.

White exclaimed: "Nobody deserves this more than him, and nobody deserves this more than his family does.

"This is what happens when the machine comes after you. What you've seen over the last several years, this is what it looks like.

"He keeps going forward, he doesn't quit. He's the most resilient, hard-working man I've ever met in your life. His family are incredible people. This is karma, ladies and gentlemen. He deserves this, they deserve it as a family.

"I want to thank some people real quickly. I want to thank the Nelk boys, Adin Ross, Theo Von [all streamers]. And the mighty and powerful Joe Rogan. Thank you America, have a good night."

As well as being on course to return to the White House, Trump and the Republican party are leading the popular vote at the time of writing with 51.1 per cent.

Seven states are still to declare, including Nevada, which is said to be 'leaning' towards Trump and would pass him over the 270 vote threshold should he win it.
